Hillside Primary has 140 pupils sharing 30 broken desks and a single shelf of textbooks. Children take turns writing, and most lessons are copied from the blackboard because there are not enough books to go round.
We are raising enough for 70 new two-seater desks and a full set of reading and maths books for every child. The local carpentry cooperative has already agreed to build the desks at cost.
We are 94% of the way there. Each $30 contribution buys one child their books for the whole school year.
